Sometime late 2017 into early 2018 Torri began to have right ear pain, we thought it was ear wax and tried a few home remedies. The pain would come and go with weeks in-between.
In March the right ear pain became more consistent but was relieved with Ibuprofen. She was seen by the pediatrician and diagnosed with an ear infection. A course of antibiotics was initiated.
In April she was seen again for re-eval of the ear infection. It had not improved so they decided injectable antibiotics was the next option, she received 3 injection over 3 days. Upon re-eval there was no improvement and they measured a significant pressure on her ear drum. She was referred to an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) physician. After a few weeks we met with the ENT and he diagnosed her with a middle inner ear infection. He decided to to make a small incision in her ear drum to drain the trapped fluid/infection. He wanted to give this a few weeks before re-evaluating but informed us that if it didn't clear up she would need to have a tube placed.
While waiting for her ear to heal she also had a hearing test that revealed a 50% hearing loss that was reported as temporary "due to infection and pressure on her ear drum".
Late May Torri took a trip to New York City and experienced daily ear aches and headaches that were not relieved by Ibuprofen, like they had been in the past. Upon return we requested further testing which took several weeks to get an appointment and get the tests ordered.
